Vedic Astrology Moon Nakshatra Marriage Compatibility

All About Nakshatras:

The 27 Nakshatras; Ashvini, Bharani, Krittika, Rohini, Mrigashirsha, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha, Sravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, Revati, all find themselves compatible with each other in different ways. You need to look at all the levels of compatibility, not just one area. You can get a point in each area and add them up at the end to see your overall compatibility.

This is a breakdown of compatibility for marriage, friendship is an entirely different matter. Remember to look at all your Moon, Sun and Lagna nakshatras for compatibility, though the Moon sign should be the most looked at placement.

Marriage “Wavepoint” points system: /36 points

28 – 36: Excellent

26 – 28: Very Good

23 – 25: Good

18 – 22: Moderate

0 – 18: Inauspicious

This system is just one of the tools of marriage matching. There are other considerations which must be taken in to account, such as those described in the following two videos. The /36 point system is just one example (looking at Moon). The following two videos can be viewed for alternative methods also.

Though the /36 point system can be useful in noticing where some problems may lie in your marriage to be able to forward plan to work out together. Ie, if you know you are not as sexually compatible, you may look to lay down plans such as delving into the kama sutra for sexual positions to eleviate any lingham-yoni problems that may arise. Or if you know you have too much excess energy in your relationship you can look to use the energy for positive things like sports, rather than destructive things like arguments.

Analysis

For analysing the placements:

  • Signs
    • Falling into different sections, means there will be agreements with the couple (8 points).
    • Falling in the same temperment (Vata or Kapha), then it is a passable situation (0 points).
    • Falling in the same temperment (Pitta), this can cause some issues (0 points).
    • “The woman will tend to suffer more if the excess is Vata or Kapha while the man will tend to suffer more if the excess is Pitta.”
  • Padas
    • The ill effect is negligible or neutralized in case of a man and woman having Nakshatra pada like 1&3, and 2&4 as they are always separated.
    • The ill affects are extended into the padas in the case of a man and woman having padas like 4&1, and 2&3 as they extend into each other and “touch”.

Example

Moon in Uttara Phalguni Pada 3, will be Vata-Pita. Sun in Purva Ashadha Pada 1, will be Pita-Pita. Ascendant in Bharani Pada 3, will be Pita-Vata, etc.

Moon in Uttara Phalguni Pada 3, will be Vata-Pita + Moon in Ashwini Pada 1, will be Vata-Vata. It is then passable (Vata-Vata) and agreeable (Pita-Vata) (0 points).

Moon in Uttara Phalguni Pada 3, will be Vata-Pita + Moon in Revati Pada 3, will be Kapha-Pita. It is then agreeable (Vata-Kapha) and can cause some issues (Pita-Pita) (8 points).

Temperment: Increase of affection & bond with time between the partners (Gana Kuta)

-/6

“When two people share the same temperment, it is easier for them to just “get” each other. They will tend to laugh at the same jokes, enjoy the same TV shows or movies, and agree on how to decorate. Best of all, they will be of comfort to each other in emotional situations and won’t try to change each other to being more “appropriate” or to “loosen up.””

Calculation

Count around Nakshatra signs (see chart here) from each partner’s position.

If the number is over 9. When you get to 9, start counting from 1 again. 10 = 1, 11 = 2, 12 = 3, 13 = 4, 14 = 5, etc.

Sexual Compatibility

This can be calculated in two different ways. Either by nakshatra sexual animals or by nakshatra sexes. I prefer to use the first way as I find it more extensive.

A man born in a male position marrying a woman born in the same sign or nakshatra is more difficult (example of Uttara Phalguni marrying a Uttara Phalguni – some people argue that different padas, or if they fall into different signs, in this case Leo (pada 1) or Virgo (pada 2/3/4) can make it more acceptable).

A man born in a male position and a woman born in a female position is good.

A man born in a male position and a woman born in a neuter is good.

A man born in a female position and a woman born in a female position is ordinary.

A man born in a neuter position and a woman born in a female position is decent.

A man born in a female position and a woman born in a neuter position is uneasy.

A man born in a female position and a woman born in a male position is problematic.

A man born in a neuter position and a woman born in a neuter position is harsh.

A man born in a neuter position and a woman born in a male position is very difficult.

Nakshatra Sexes:

Female nakshatras: Bharani, Krittika, Rohini, Ardra, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Jyeshtha, Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha, Dhanistha, and Revati.

Male nakshatras: Ashwini, Pushya, Punarvasu, Hasta, Anuradha, Shravana, Purva Bhadrapada and Uttara Bhadrapada.

Neuter nakshatras: Mrigashira, Mula and Shatabhisha.

Examples:

Ashwini (man) with Uttara Phalguni (woman) = good.

Ashwini (man) with Mula (woman) = good.

Bharani (man) with Rohini (woman) = ordinary.

Mula (man) with Bharani (woman) = decent.

Bharani (man) with Mula (woman) = uneasy.

Bharani (man) with Pushya (woman) = problematic.

Mula (man) with Shatabhisha (woman) = harsh.

Mula (man) with Hasta (woman) = very difficult.

Nakshatra animals by sex:

Female + Male = good. Female + Female = acceptable. Male + Male = difficult.

Ashwini (male) – Shatabhisha (female): Horse

Bharani (male) – Revati (female): Elephant

Pushya (male) – Krittika (female): Sheep

Rohini (male) – Mrigashira (female): Serpent

Mula (male) – Ardra (female): Dog
